What to do before and after laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal has become the most popular hair removal method. It has eliminated the continuous need to shave or wax. This is the safest way to remove hair from the roots and prevent ingrown hair from cropping up. Moreover, that’s the only hair removing method that discourages growth and gives you six weeks of freedom. However, to be effective and safe, it requires strict before and aftercare.

So, what do you need to do before laser hair removal?

    Before booking the laser hair removal appointment, you first need to prep your skin for the treatment. Since it is not an ordinary wax or a shave, your skin needs to be in the right condition. Here’s what you need to do weeks and days before the laser hair removal;

    • Stop waxing, threading, or tweezing the area at least four weeks before the appointment. You can shave if there is a need
    • Try not to bleach the area six weeks before the treatment
    • Do not expose the soon to be treated area to the sun. If there is an absolute need, use sunblock. However, if sun exposure or sunblock can be avoided, stay away from it at least for a day before the appointment
    • Do not apply makeup, lotion, deodorant, or self-tanner spray to the soon to be treated area. That’s a big no for the day
    • Shave the area 24 hours before the laser hair removal. Try shaving as closely as possible
    • Leave a patch of hair for your laser hair removal expert to examine

That’s all you have to do before heading out for the appointment.

What do you need to do after the laser hair removal?

The skin, after the first, second, and even third laser hair removal, is in a vulnerable state. You have to be very gentle to the recently treated area. Here’s what your hair removal expert wants you to do after laser treatment.

    • Do not panic seeing the redness and bumps, they may last a few hours.
    • Use a cold compress if any sensitivity occurs
    • Avoid cleaning the area with harsh soap or shower gel
    • Be gentle, pat dry the recently treated area. Do not rub the skin as well
    • Skip using makeup, lotion, deodorant, self-tanner spray, and bleach the area for at least 24 hours
    • Get ready to shed the dead hair. It’s normal. You will keep shedding the dead hair for 30 day
    • Say yes to exfoliation to speed up the hair shedding process
    • Avoid exposing your skin to the sun, use sunblock in the hour of need
    • Avoid waxing, threading, or plucking the recently treated area, shaving is okay.
    • If you notice any alarming signs, contact the laser hair removal expert or a doctor right away

That’s what you have to do and avoid post the treatment. If the instructions are followed properly, there would not any issues. Laser hair removal is 100% safe and worth trying, search Lexington laser hair removal, get more information, and book your appointment.
